Maasai Mara Kenya Safari: 3 Days of Pure Adventure

There are some trips you take… and then there are the ones that stay with you.

Our 3-day safari in the Maasai Mara was exactly that.

This wasn’t just a trip—it was a “we really did that” kind of experience.

✈️ The Plan

We booked through Bonfire Adventures (our second time with them—because when you find good people, you stick with them). Everything was seamless: transport, accommodation, meals… all sorted.

We stayed at Mara Glass Cottage—which honestly felt like the perfect mix of cozy and “wow, we’re really in the wild.”

And yes—food was included (breakfast, lunch, dinner). No thinking, just eating and living your best safari life.

Day 1: Arrival + First Game Drive

We hit the road early and got to the Mara around 3 PM.

Checked in. Took a breath. Looked around like… okay, this is real.

Then straight into a half-day safari.

And just like that—boom—you’re in the wild. No warm-up needed.

We saw animals within minutes. The kind of moment where you’re quietly freaking out but trying to stay calm for the video.

Dinner after, then knocked out early—because the next day? The real safari begins.

 

🐘 Day 2: The Day That Didn’t Feel Real

Up at 7 AM. Breakfast. Then off again by 8.

And listen… I don’t even know how to explain this properly.

The morning? Unreal.

  • Zebras everywhere

  • Maasai giraffes just casually walking like they own the place

  • Wildebeest moving in groups like a scene from a documentary

Then came the elephants. Massive. Calm. Right there.

And just when we thought it couldn’t get better…

“A lioness has been spotted.”

We ran (well… drove fast 😅).

And there she was.

Not long after—we saw a lion too.

And somehow… a cheetah hunting. Like actual National Geographic in real life.

Also spotted:

  • Crocodiles

  • Water buffalo

  • Baboons & monkeys (very unserious energy 😂)

  • And every type of antelope cousin you can imagine

It was one of those days where you stop trying to capture everything… and just take it in.

Day 3: Slow Goodbye

By day three, you’re a little softer, a little quieter.

You’ve seen so much, but somehow it still doesn’t feel like enough.

Breakfast. One last look at the landscape.

Then the drive back—already talking about “next time.”

Final Thoughts

If it’s your first time in Kenya—or even your fifth—you have to do a safari.

And if you’re like us, traveling with someone experiencing it for the first time?

Even better.

Because seeing it through their eyes reminds you just how special it is.

We couldn’t let my boyfriend leave Kenya without this… and honestly? Best decision.
